Following his graduation, Dr. Berkowitz embarked on a rigorous three-year surgical residency in foot and ankle surgery at the University Hospitals Health System in Richmond Heights, Ohio. This training program allowed him to refine his surgical skills and gain extensive experience in managing a wide range of foot and ankle conditions. In addition to his training in the US, Dr. Berkowitz sought to expand his knowledge and expertise on a global scale. He had the privilege of receiving specialized training in Pediatric Lower Limb Surgery in Austria during his post-graduate residency. This international experience exposed him to advanced techniques and innovative approaches in treating complex pediatric foot and ankle conditions, enhancing his ability to provide comprehensive care to patients of all ages.
Establishing a Thriving Practice
After completing his residency, Dr. Berkowitz wasted no time in making his mark on the podiatric community. In 2007, he established his own practice in the greater Cleveland area, quickly earning a reputation as a skilled and compassionate podiatrist. His dedication to patient care and his expertise in various aspects of podiatry, including wound care, reconstructive foot surgery, sports medicine, and diabetic foot care, set him apart as a trusted healthcare provider. Recognizing the need for specialized wound care services, Dr. Berkowitz played a critical role in establishing three wound care centers in Northeast Ohio.
